In order to start your lessons you must:
- Be at least 17 years old. You may begin to learn at 16 if you are claiming high level disability.
- Have a current provisional driving licence. You can apply for a provisional driving licence with form D1, available from a Post Office or online at www.direct.gov.uk Applications will be accepted up to 3 months before your 17th birthday.
- Be prepared to sit a DSA Theory Test. You can apply for this at www.direct.gov.uk. If you choose an all inclusive intensive course, I will make the booking for you.
- Check your eyes
- Before you start learning, make sure you can read a number plate in good daylight from 20.5 metres away – that's about five car lengths. For the new-style number plates (that were introduced September 2001), the distance is 20 metres. If you wear glasses or contacts, that’s fine. Just make sure you always wear them when driving.
